One of the perks of the Oregon Mycological Society is the people you meet. Members can sign up for field trips to learn about fungi and be introduced to the proper habitat. These trip are often preceded by an exploratory outing to find areas that are populated with fruiting fungi. These trip are essential, after all if a group of 10-20 people set on finding mushrooms and the field trip leader doesn't deliver you'll have some unhappy participants.

Oregon Mycological Society offers mushroom identification classes to members. Fortunately for me I met my dear friend Sava attending the intermediate Mushroom ID class taught by none other than Dick and Sallie. Since then Sava and I have been on many a mushroom adventure. Thanks Sava.
