Karen and I had the great pleasure to spend a fascinating and enjoyable journey with Barry Lopez and Conger Beasley Jr. (1940-2016) in the summer of 1991 exploring and scuba diving in the Galapagos Island archipelago. We couldn't have gotten luckier if Darwin had been our guide.
Tonight we caught the remains of the Christmas star, Jupiter and Saturn departing their alignment.
A small random collection of pictures of fungi and the places they grow. The mushrooms we see are the fruiting bodies of main organism, mycelia. What a lovely way to spend a day in the forest, discovery of these beautiful species.
Some old negatives, travels of the past, marbles in museums. Enjoy.
A year has passed since my father lost his battle with life.
Today would have been his 81st birthday. As a child, I admired, even revered my father. I followed his lead, learned his craft and walked in his foot steps. As a teen and young adult I was employed in his studios, fine tuned my craft, honed my skills and learned by being thrown into the deep end time and time again by my dad. Where ever you are now, happy birthday Dad. Welcome to December 2020.
Time of change, autumn is well under way as the last leaves leave deciduous trees, the summer garden has faded. Migration, hibernation or simply preparing for the chilly wet winter ahead, the critters here are busy. Looking hopefully to 2021, a panacea for this pandemic, or at least something to make us as humans safer from covid’s hunger. Have a little howl at the waning gibbous moon tonight, next full moon 12/29/2020. |
