In April I discovered my little follie of a nest had been taken over by a couple of American robins (Turdus migratorius). The original nest was a wire basket I'd made with a cue ball left over from the old studio billiard table. It's in a low boxwood, pruned to emulate a tree I remember from Dr. Seuss books my little brothers read. Here is the journey in pictures. Starting with the first egg, then two and then four, back to two (not clear on what happened to missing eggs) continuing through just before they fledged the nest.

Thanks for posting this! Especially love that hungry shot. This got me wondering if there is a survival benefit to the bright color of the robin egg. The selection seems a bit loud for something so precious.
